Law to protect child actors

Governor Jerry Brown signed a bill which will not registered sex offenders represent minors in the entertainment industry . It requires background checks for managers, publicist , photographers and others with access to young performers. The bill has gained popularity because of the recent cases of sex offenders with young actors . Jason James Murphy was accused of being a sex offender on the set of Super 8. This caught my eye because i was a child actor .

As a student this is awesome because that means if i were to get into the business of say acting again i would know that I am protected because of various background checks on the people im working with . As a future film maker this is also awesome because I know that the people im working with will be clean and that no one will have any legal issues . As a consumer this is also good because the actual actors on screen will be protected and I never want to seem harm to anyone . My questions for the industry will there be anymore background checks on anyone or will this be it ?

Innocence of Muslims

People have been really riled up by the new indie movie Innocence of Muslims . The film with a  cast of 40 people and  some simple pyrotechnics has been blamed for starting riots world wide . It was filmed at Blue Cloud Movie Ranch in Santa Clarita . The film permit has also been a serious debate . Los Angelas County authorities had asked Film LA not to release the permit . On Thursday they distributed the permit with information redacted such as , names , and addressing information. Some people of the crew claim that they were tricked into doing the film . This is important because this film really goes out there and bashes Muhammad and I wanted to see the permit .

As a student this affects me because people do get tricked into some movies that really ruin them so I have to be careful on what I work on . As a future film maker , permits really mean everything to a movie cause you cant shoot with out them and im assuming there going to make it a lot more tough to get one after this .  As a consumer this really could hurt some good indie film makers because of the permit being harder to acquire . My question is if the Director realizes hes hurting all of us with this .

Poor Old Godzilla .

Godzilla will now be rebooted in 3D. The reboot will be scheduled for 2014 of May. Gareth Edwards will be directing the film , he is known for the Expendables and the Dark Night Trilogy.  Legendary and Warner Bros have said that they will return it to its epic roots with a gritty , realistic actioner . Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni as well as Roy Lee will produce the film . This article caught my eye cause I love Godzilla and I thought oh no not a Godzilla remake .

To me as a student this impacts me because soon I will have to learn to not use the brain I have to make new ideas because the future will be filled of remakes . As a future filmmaker this really saddens me because the industry is just becoming remake after remake and soon it will be expected of Filmmakers . As a consumer i despise this , I absolutely hate 3D and I don't like how there remaking Godzilla . I have to question the industry , why the remakes and why the god awful 3D improve it before you use it .

Jake Eberts

Jake Eberts died in his home town of Montreal this morning at the age of seventy one . He was a renowned film producer and was credited for many films thirty seven of them winning Oscars . He was known for financing indie movies which would got be accepted by big movie officials . Denys Arcand says " He took film making seriously . He felt cinema should be used for the betterment of man kind." Ebert was developing the IMAX documentary Jerusalem slated for release in 2013 and also a sixty million dollar project in China .
This article caught my eye because I have seen his name credited in a movie I have seen before and I was assuming it was the same person .

This impacts me as a student because people like Ebert believed in supporting Indie films , if one day as a student somebody like him could of helped me , but sadly with Ebert gone that likeliness goes down . As a future film maker this affects me severely because I have less chances of being green lighted because without people like Ebert , it will be harder . As a consumer this effects me because there will be less indie movies around to watch , Ebert was known for supporting indie films and helping them get to big screens . My question is when will people start realizing that indie films can be really amazing if they are supported .
